We are delighted to announce that St. Mary\u2019s Prep has been praised as an \u2018outstanding\u2019 school in a new report by Liverpool\u2019s Catholic authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christian Education Department inspectors from the Archdiocese of Liverpool visited the Preparatory School recently and gave it an \u2018outstanding\u2019 grading for the Catholic education it provides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to their report, the outstanding features include staff who offer \u2018a culture of welcome to all\u2019 and provide \u2018a loving, caring environment where every pupil has the chance to thrive and develop their own unique talents\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inspectors also say that \u2018the behaviour of pupils is outstanding – they are articulate, religiously literate and supportive of each other\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is reinforced by the fact that \u2018all stakeholders speak highly of the family atmosphere that exists within the school\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other factors singled out for praise include leadership at the school, with the Headmaster, Jonathan Webster, and Subject Leader for Religious Education, Paula Walton, described as \u2018aspirational in their vision\u2019, and \u2018leading by example supported by the governing body and wider school community\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inspectors were also impressed with pupils\u2019 links with charities and the local community, and the fact that parents \u2018are overwhelmingly positive in their comments about the ethos of the school\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elsewhere they say that the overall quality of teaching, learning and assessment is \u2018outstanding\u2019 while in lessons \u2018pupils are highly engaged, reflective and speak with confidence about their understanding\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on the findings St. Mary\u2019s Prep Headmaster, Jonathan Webster, said: \u201cEveryone at the school is delighted to have received such a positive report from the Archdiocese inspectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt reinforces the success of our approach which is to recognise that each child has their own excellence, and it is our responsibility to find this and nurture it throughout their time with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u201cDeveloping the moral and spiritual life of pupils is a fundamental element in this approach and we are very pleased that the inspectors recognised that this is at the heart of everything we do as a school.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Webster added that while most pupils at St. Mary\u2019s Preparatory School are Catholics, the school also welcomes children of other faiths or none, and their contribution to the school\u2019s spiritual and moral life is equally valued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
