Admissions

Admission to St. Mary’s College in Year 7 is based on an informal interview, primary school report plus an entrance examination consisting of a Cognitive Abilities Test as well as English and Mathematics papers.

The date for our entrance examination for 2024 entry is Friday 17th November 2023, with interviews taking place earlier that week (w/c Monday 13th November) and Art, Music and Sport Scholarship assessments taking place the previous week (w/c Monday 6th November).

If places are available, individual admission is possible at other levels of entry, especially into Year 10, when pupils commence their GCSE examinations.

Sixth Form admission is based on a combination of interview, present school report (for external applications) and performance at GCSE. As a guide, applicants should have received a combined total of at least 36 points in their seven best GCSEs and they should have achieved at least a grade 6 in the GCSE subjects they wish to take forward as their A Level subject choices and preferably a 7-9 grade.
